Tracing Series delineating and contrasting painting to strengthen and highlight the texture of abstract expressionism, and thus forms a “popular” image pattern combining both cold and hot abstract expressions.
When the work is extended outdoors, it is hoped to explore the “intuitive traces” freely left by social John Does without being noticed, and at the same time trigger people to think about the sociological relationship between urban space and the marginalized groups. It is that the graffiti of John Does are also a kind of “landscape text”, which confronts and entangles with the classy, bright and glamorous urban landscape text. Like the “focusing-shooting-developing-printing” process of photography, Tracing Series focuses on, selects and analyzes a target landscape (text), and makes it become a new landscape in a specific field domain. Tracing Series seems to create a sense of ritual for the traces and marks left by the John Does, and move these “symbols of codes” to the front desk through art re-dissemination. Such efforts aim at encouraging more viewers to feel, perceive and understand the embarrassing state of the marginalized groups of people in the mainstream society of spectacle and their weak voice from heart.
